  3.                     Automatic Installation Procedure
  4.  
  5. This release of the Western Digital Fastdisk driver (WDCDRV.386) provides a 
  6. mechanism for automatic installation of the driver.  It also includes a 
  7. program and help file to assist in selecting driver operating parameters.  The 
  8. installation program (SETUP.EXE) will automatically install the Fastdisk 
  9. driver, configuration program, and all documentation files onto your local 
  10. hard drive.  The default destination directory is the Windows directory, 
  11. normally C:\WINDOWS.  The SETUP.EXE program must be run from within Windows as 
  12. it is a Windows 3.1 application.

  14. Procedure:

  16.     1. Start Microsoft Windows if it is not already running.
  17.  
  18.     2. Using the Windows Program Manager, or Norton Desktop, select the
  19.        'Run...' comand from the 'File' menu.
  20.  
  21.     3. Enter 'x:\setup.exe' where x is the drive letter of the floppy that
  22.        contains your WDCDRV.386 Installation diskette.
  23.  
  24.     4. The SETUP program will execute and prompt you for various information
  25.        during its installation processing.  Each prompt includes text that
  26.        describes that particular option.

  28.     5. The SETUP program will copy all files to the specified destination
  29.        directory and create the program groups to run the CAVIAR.EXE
  30.        configuration program.

  32.     6. You must then restart Windows to activate the Fastdisk driver.  All
  33.        necessary modifications to the SYSTEM.INI file have been made for
  34.        you automatically to enable the Fastdisk driver with its default
  35.        operating modes.
